Important Notice to Users of the NBIN API Developer Portal

For the purposes hereof, "We,” “Us,” and “Our” means National Bank Independent Network (“NBIN”), a business name of National Bank Financial Inc. (“NBF”), a subsidiary of National Bank of Canada (“NBC”), its subsidiaries and affiliates. By using this NBIN API Developer Portal (the “API Developer Portal ”) and associated API Services (the “Services”) in a non-production environment (the “Sandbox”), you (the “User” or “Users”) accept these Terms of Use, which are subject to change without notice. Furthermore, you agree to consult these Terms of Use from time to time and acknowledge that your continuing use of the API Developer Portal means that you have accepted any changes that may have been made.

Users shall use the API Developer Portal solely for lawful purposes and in strict compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and these Terms of Use. Use of the API Developer Portal for any purpose that is unlawful, fraudulent, prohibited by these Terms of Use, or otherwise harmful to NBIN, its affiliates, or any third party is strictly prohibited.

Authorized Use

  • Users shall not modify, copy, reproduce, publish, or otherwise distribute material from the API Developer Portal or Sandbox without prior express written consent of NBIN.

  • Users shall not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of any software embedded within the API Developer Portal or APIs.

Use of Sandbox and Test Environment

  • NBIN’s API Developer Portal environment contains test data provided solely for illustrative purposes.

  • Access to Services via the Sandbox, including through the “Try Now” function on the API Developer Portal, is strictly limited to evaluation purposes only. Any data or information submitted in connection with such access will be deemed non-confidential and non-proprietary. NBIN shall bear no obligation to review, utilize, or evaluate any such submissions.

    • By submitting data or information through the API Developer Portal or by using the Services, users represent and warrant that they have obtained all necessary consents, rights, and licenses to use such information as submitted and to disclose it to NBIN and its third-party provider.

    • When submitting any data or information in the Sandbox, or via the “Try This” function on the Developer Portal, Users are solely responsible for implementing appropriate safeguards for any sensitive data. Data provided in this shared environment will be treated as non-confidential, and NBIN disclaims any responsibility for privacy protections in connection with such submissions.

Privacy and Data Protection

  • Access to certain areas of the API Developer Portal or specific resources may require users to provide registration details or other information. As a condition of use of the Site, users represent and warrant that all information provided is accurate, current, and complete. All information collected through the Developer Portal is subject to NBIN’s Privacy Policy. By accessing or using the Site or Services, users expressly consent to all actions taken by NBIN with respect to user information in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

  • NBIN employs reasonable security measures to safeguard sensitive information; however, the security of such information is dependent, in part, upon the security of the computer or device used to communicate with NBIN, the measures implemented to protect user credentials, and the security provided by internet service providers. NBIN disclaims responsibility for the security or privacy of information transmitted to or from such devices. Users agree to notify NBIN immediately upon becoming aware of any disclosure, loss, theft, unauthorized use, or suspicious activity involving credentials, or if they believe an account has been accessed without authorization. NBIN shall bear no liability for any loss or damage arising from failure to comply with this provision.

Limitation of Liability

  • In general and without limiting the specific cases of limitation of liability mentioned above, and notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary, We shall not be held responsible for any damages that may result from or relate to the use of the API Developer Portal and/or its contents or the use of the Services. In particular, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, we shall not be held responsible for issues of access, use, accuracy of contents, or the loss of data or information, whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such issues. The contents of the API Developer Portal or Sandbox must not be interpreted, considered or used as if they were financial, legal, tax, or other professional advice.

Termination and Access Suspension

  • NBIN has the right to suspend user access to and use of the Developer Portal in the event of a breach of the Terms of Use or any applicable Agreement.
